Edward Edgcumbe

A former Brighton Early Music Festival Young Artist, Edward enjoys a varied mix of solo, consort, and educational work. After graduating with an MMus from the Royal Academy of Music in 2017—where he studied with Michael Chance, Larry Zazzo, and James Baillieu—he spent a year as an Open Academy Fellow under the guidance of Julian West. This passion for creative learning and participation has developed into founding of Hold the Drama with the rest of his fellowship cohort. The group delivers immersive shows for children that use high-quality live music to tell stories that explore issues around mental health.

Edward has performed at Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts with Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Barcelona’s Palau de la Musica with the Instruments of Time and Truth, and Wigmore Hall with three parts vied. Previously a lay clerk at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and a choral scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, he now deps frequently with the choirs of St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Clement Dane’s, and The London Oratory.
